RPS offers a truly integrated Geotechnical & Contaminated Land consultancy service for all developments through our team of Geotechnical Engineers, Engineering Geologists and Contaminated Land specialists. Our understanding of multi-disciplinary projects, combined with a strong engineering geology capability & an understanding of what our client is trying to achieve means that we are able to develop the best possible ground model. We can then interpret the model, identify geotechnical risks and link this to geotechnical designs which achieve the best commercial solution.
Health & safety
RPS provides bespoke solutions integrating multidisciplinary services covering health & safety, occupational health and the environment. RPS delivers robust Health Impact Assessments at the strategic, Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP) and local-planning level. Early proactive investigation of potential health issues in a project provides greater benefits to clients than adopting a reactive and possibly defensive role at a later stage.
Impact assessment (EIA/SEA)
Our approach has been shaped by many years of preparing technically and legally robust Environmental Statements which minimise the risk of challenge or delay in the determination of a planning application. We can complete all components of the EIA process and related studies in-house in conjunction with the planners but our EIA team often acts as the lead consultant coordinating large and diverse project teams.
We have extensive noise and vibration experience from desktop studies through site surveys, environmental assessments, and monitoring to providing expert witness services at public inquiry. Our areas of expertise include building and architectural acoustics, environmental noise, measurement and testing, noise mapping, underwater acoustics and vibration.
RPS has developed the sustainability strategies and statements for many significant UK projects. Our holistic and dynamic approach to sustainability recognises the many cross-cutting themes borne out in planning, design, commercial, environmental, technical and other project choices. Our sustainability team works with specialists in planning, EIA, HIA, transport and other environmental disciplines to agree sustainability options.
Town & country planning
We are recognised for our successes in securing permissions for even the most challenging proposals whilst maintaining the highest possible professional standards. Our cost-effective approach is based on establishing clear strategies for scheme promotion and high quality argument and evidence. With the planning system in the UK becoming increasingly complex, applications often require a wide range of specialist consultancy skills which RPS is exceptionally well placed to deliver.
RPS recognises that integrated catchment management services deliver the greatest benefits for business, communities and our natural environment. Our dedicated team of river engineers, hydrologists, hydrogeologists, hydraulic modellers, water resource planners, ecologists and water and wastewater network management experts can provide the complete range of services necessary to deliver water resources and schemes and manage our water environment.
Our occupational hygienists can help to comply with legislation requirements and as well as improve productivity as a result of using more effective controls. Better understanding of health and safety can also lead to improved employee morale. We advise on the COSHH regulations, monitor noise and HAV in the workplace and provide LEV testing, workplace exposure monitoring and the survey of indoor air quality in buildings used by the public.
